CoreFour Announces Investment Round to Accelerate Growth of the Edsby Social Learning Platform

Toronto, Ontario; January 21st, 2014: CoreFour, Inc., maker of the Edsby® social learning platform, is pleased to announce the completion of a round of external investment into the company. The funds will be used to expand sales, marketing, development and customer support as more and more private schools and school districts use Edsby to modernize and transform how teachers, students, parents and administrators engage at school.

The lead investor in the round is MindAngler Capital, headed by Nigel Stokes, co-founder and former Chairman and CEO of DataMirror Corp. (acquired by IBM). Nigel has joined the board of directors of CoreFour.

Co-investing in the round is Byye Management, led by Nancy Knowlton and David Martin, co-founders of SMART Technologies. They built SMART Technologies into one of the world’s largest education technology companies and transformed the way technology is used in the classroom. Nancy has also joined the CoreFour board.

Also participating in the round is XDL Capital Group, led by Dennis Bennie, former Chairman and CEO of Delrina Corporation (acquired by Symantec).  Dennis is a renowned pioneer, entrepreneur and innovator in the Canadian technology industry.

The four co-founders of CoreFour (Jon Asbury, Steve Asbury, John Myers and Scott Welch) are delighted to have such a distinguished group of successful technology entrepreneurs invest in the company and share in the vision of how modern technology such as Edsby can enhance student learning and achievement. In addition the company will benefit tremendously from both the general technology sector experience and specific education technology experience that Nigel and Nancy bring to the board of directors.

“Hundreds of thousands of teachers, parents, students and administrators at school districts and private schools already use Edsby to communicate and engage more effectively,” said John Myers, CoreFour CEO. “This new funding enables us to accelerate the adoption of Edsby by even more education organizations globally.”
