Local dignitaries celebrate Edsby adding jobs

Todd Smith, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade for the Canadian province of Ontario and Daisy Wai, Member of Provincial Parliament were among politicians who visited education technology company Edsby today to celebrate an overseas initiative recently won by the company and to highlight it as a local business success.

“We’re educating our young people so that they’re ready to fill the jobs that you’re going to be creating here at Edsby,” said Minister Smith in remarks at Edsby’s headquarters. “We’re getting coding into the classrooms to make sure our young people are able to fulfill the jobs you’re creating here at Edsby. We’re confident in the work you’re doing. Congratulations on your initiatives so far. I look forward to seeing announcements on the world stage in the next few months and to continue to watch the success of this company.”

Used by millions of students, teacher and parents around the world and powering the online transformations of some of the largest school districts in North America, Edsby just signed a significant new international contract.

The New Zealand Ministry of Education needed a modern, secure, cloud-based solution that would provide the country with a way to centrally aggregate and store a range of student information. After two years of evaluating options, it selected Ontario-based Edsby.

The deal is to create new jobs in both Ontario and New Zealand. It is to also fuel the creation of additional exciting technologies in the Edsby platform that can be applied in other education jurisdictions around the world.
