Mobile Help – Navigating the Edsby App
Edsby enables teachers to access their students and classes at the convenience of their mobile devices by using the Edsby App.

When an account is logged into from the Edsby App, the Home Screen will be the first screen you see as a teacher.
This screen displays the News River as well as options to access your Settings, Personal Folder, Recent Activity, Launchpad, and Comment Bank. You can also logout of the app from this screen.
The News River
The News River runs along the top of the Home Screen when you first log into the App. The newest posts will be visible first, however, you can access older posts by clicking the arrow on the right side. To read the full article, click on the article’s picture in the News River.
You can access your Settings by clicking the arrow next to your name or by clicking Settings.
Here you can access and edit your Login Information, Personal Information, Profile, Notification Settings, and Other Settings.
View your username and current password by clicking Login Information. Your username cannot be changed.
If it is incorrect or requires updating, contact the school. However, as a teacher, you can change your password. Type in the new password you wish to use and confirm it by typing it again under Verify Password. Click Save.
The new password is effective immediately.
You can access your Personal Information by selecting this from the Settings menu. Here, you can change your name, email, address, and phone numbers visible in Edsby by clicking Change next to the row you wish to update.
The Office will be notified every time you change your Personal Information.
View and update your Notification Settings by clicking Notifications. Here, you can choose to be notified regarding your Messages, Personal Calendar, Organization, Classes, or Groups.
Click on the row you wish to update. For more information on changing your Notification Settings, click here.
You can change your language preferences by clicking Other Settings. Select your preferred language using the drop-down menu. Click Save.

You can also decide if you would like to allow parents to send unsolicited messages to you within Edsby by selecting or deselecting the box.
Your Personal Folder contains all rubrics, online tests, and files you have created or uploaded.
You can access this from the Edsby App by clicking the link for it on your Home Screen.
Once in the Folder, you can search through its contents. You can upload files to your folder by clicking Upload and adding resources.
You can also create new courses, folders, question sheets, and rubrics in your Personal Folder by clicking New and selecting an option from the menu.
However, creating new content like rubrics or question sheets is most efficient from the Edsby browser interface.
You can view the Recent Activity of your students, including observations made by other teachers in the school, or changes to school information by clicking Recent Activity on your Home Screen.
Key third-party websites and applications are integrated into Edsby through the Launchpad for quick access. Some examples include Edsby Help Files & Videos, the school website, O365, and Google Docs.
You can also add links to your Launchpad to websites or applications that you would like quick access to. In this example, Beth Archer would like to add a quick link to her youtube for quick access to livestream. Click the Add Link button in the Launchpad.
Give the link a title and paste the website address in the URL box. Add an optional image icon by clicking Browse. Click Save.
The link will be easily accessible in your Launchpad for quick access.
You can logout of your Edsby account from your Home Screen by clicking Logout.
School and District Pages
The Edsby Mobile App enables convenient access to the School and District pages.
To access these, click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Home Screen. Select the name of the School or District to view its page.
If you teach at multiple schools, you will have access to the pages of all schools you teach at. You will be brought to the News Feed of the School where you can view posts made by members of the school. You can also submit your own article to post in the News River by clicking the Plus icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

View the School Calendar by clicking Calendar.
View School Information like Key Contacts, Staff members, and Important Information by clicking Info. To easily be notified when the school posts a new article, click the bell icon next to the school name.
Along the bottom of any screen in the Edsby app is the Navigation Bar with icons for Home, Classes, Groups, Messages, Calendar, and Notifications.
A teacher’s job is to open unseen posts by clicking the area that has new notifications.
Clicking Classes from the Navigation Bar will bring you to a screen that shows an overview of the Classes you are teaching and the overall class average if you have chosen to compute them.
You can easily capture a piece of Learning Evidence from the Classes Screen. Click New Evidence for the correct class. For more information on capturing mobile Learning Evidence, click here.
From the Classes Screen, you can click on any class to view the Class Feed.
Inside a Class
The Class Feed provides information from both you and your students, if you have enabled your students to post.
Access your Class Setup form from inside the class by clicking Setup from the top menu bar.
Here, you can edit the setup options for the specific class. It is this form where you can enable students to post in the class, enable parent viewing options, set whether averages can be seen, and more.
If you have enabled students to post in the Class Feed, their posts will be visible to you. You can post new Assessments, Notes, or Polls by clicking the icon in the top right corner of the screen and selecting an option from the menu.
Fill out the form and click Save to post to the class.
You will be notified each time a new post is made in the Class Feed by someone other than you.
You can interact with posts in the Class Feed by clicking the comment or like buttons below each post.
To Pin, Add to Library, Edit, Delete, or report a post as inappropriate, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the post.
Pinned Items are visible by selecting Pinned from the top menu bar.
Reported posts are sent to the Office for an administrator to review.
You have the option to take attendance from your mobile device.
To do this, select Attendance from the top menu bar in the class.
A grid view of the students in your class will be visible.
Tap the pictures of the students who are Absent and Late. A red A will appear on top of the photo after being tapped once.
Click the student’s photo again if they are late. A yellow L will appear on top of their photo after being tapped twice.
Click Fill Present to mark all other students as present.
When each student has been marked with the correct attendance state, click Share with Office.
You can create extra attendance sheets by clicking the three white vertical dots in the top right corner of the attendance screen.
Select Create Extra Attendance. Fill out the form with a sheet name, start time, and end time.
Click Save. Mark the students with their appropriate attendance states and share with the Office when the attendance is complete.
Click Calendar in the top menu bar in a class to view past, current, and upcoming events or assessments in the class schedule.
You can add events to the Class Calendar by clicking the blue plus icon at the right side of the screen.
Fill out the form and click Save at the bottom.
The event will be added to the Class Calendar and will be visible to all members of the class.
View all class Content you have created for your students by clicking Content. You can select which items are visible to your students by clicking the toggle beside each item of Content. When the toggle is green filled-in the Content is visible to students. When the toggle is empty black and white, the Content is hidden from students.

You can view all members of the class (both teachers and students) by clicking People from the top menu bar.
Click the drop-down arrow next to a student’s name for options to visit their Panorama, Mini Profile, or to add a new piece of Learning Evidence.
Click Panorama to go to the student’s Panorama.
From here, you can send the student a message, plan an absence, view the student’s Portfolio, and view important information regarding the student, including:
- Their parents/guardians
- Their Classes
- Their Calendar
- Groups the student is a member of
- Personal Information about the student
- Option to reset the student’s Edsby password
Clicking on the name of a student in the list under People or selecting Mini Profile from the drop-down menu, brings you to the student’s Mini Profile.
From here, you can send the student a message, view their Panorama, or their Portfolio by clicking View More.
Click New Evidence of Learning to capture a piece of Learning Evidence for the specific student.
You can access the Evidence of Learning system from within a class.
Select Evidence from the top menu bar. This will bring you a screen with options to view All Evidence, Organize your collected evidence, or view your students’ Learning Stories.
Click All Evidence to view all of the pieces of evidence you have collected for students in your class.
Click Organize to organize the pieces of evidence you have collected for specific students.
Click Learning Story to view the evidence you have shared with a student and their parents.

You can also view the class Journal and Library by selecting these options from the top menu bar in the class.
Clicking Groups along the bottom Navigation Bar brings you to a screen that shows all groups you are a member of.
From here, you can click on the icon of any group to view the Group Feed.
If enabled by the group moderator, members can post either a Note or Poll in the group by clicking the icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Members of a group will be notified every time a new post is made in the Group Feed.
You can Reply to and Like group posts by using the icons below each post. You can also report posts as inappropriate or Edit your own posts by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the post.
If you are the moderator of a group, you can additionally Pin and Delete posts in the Group Feed by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the post.
Click Calendar in the top menu bar of a group to view past, current, and upcoming events specific to the selected group.
If you are the moderator of a group, you can add events to the Group Calendar by clicking the blue plus button, filling out the form, and clicking Save.
You can also view group members, the Knowledge Base, important Pinned Items, and the Group Library by navigating to these from the menu bar across the top of the group screen.
Searching in Edsby
You can search for people, groups, posts, or anything else in Edsby by clicking the Search icon in the top left corner of the Home Screen or Groups panel.
Type a search request into the box and suggestions will appear.
To refine your search, click Filters.
You can filter your search to search through People, Groups, Posts, Documents, or other. You can also specify which group to search in or search by who created the content. Additionally, you can refine the date range to narrow down your search.
Once you have located what you were searching for, simply click on the result.
View your Edsby Mailbox and Messages by clicking the Messages icon in the Navigation Bar across the bottom of the screen.
The Edsby Mailbox will show your messages with options to:
- Compose a new message
- Search through your messages
- View a message
Click a message to view the conversation.
You can Lock a conversation to students so that you can message the student but the student is unable to reply. This is done by clicking the Lock at the top right of a message and setting it to either Unlocked (students can message you) or Locked (students cannot message you).
To compose a new message, click the New Message icon in the top right corner of your Edsby Mailbox.
Fill in your recipient’s name, type your message, and click Send.
Managing Parent-Teacher Interview Schedules
You can manage your Parent-Teacher Interview schedules through your Mailbox on mobile. Here you can block spots and book for parents. If a parent-teacher interview campaign has started, you will receive a message in your Mailbox.
Click the message. Click Manage Schedule.
From here, you can block or unblock spots, set room numbers, or book for parents.

Clicking the Calendar icon in the bottom Navigation Bar will bring you to your Personal Calendar.
This Calendar summarizes all past, current, and upcoming events and assessments from all classes and groups you are a part of. This Calendar is visible to you only and it is also the place you can add a personal event to the Calendar for yourself.
To add a personal event, click the Add (+) button at the top right of the screen.
Fill out the form and click Save.
The event will be added to your Personal Calendar and will be visible only to you.
Changing Calendar Settings
Click the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen to select what is displayed on your Calendar.
You can select certain Groups or Classes to be displayed on your Personal Calendar. Boxes with a checkmark indicate that events and/or assessments from these sections will be added to your Personal Calendar.
You can choose to be notified of various activities in various ways through Email, Edsby itself, or Mobile Notifications on mobile through your Settings.
Edsby Notifications are found by clicking Notifications in the bottom mobile Navigation Bar.
Clicking a Mobile Notification on mobile will place you in the appropriate context of the Edsby App where the notification came from. For example, Beth Archer received a notification that her student Lisa Lee commented on one of her posts.
Clicking this notification will bring her to the post within the Edsby App.
