Inside one of the largest, most successful K-12 LMS rollouts ever

In a webinar with Microsoft, Hillsborough County Public Schools shared the success it’s had using Edsby with 300,000+ users across its district over the last three years.

In a session titled Inside one of the largest, most successful K-12 LMS rollouts ever, the eighth-largest school district in the United States detailed how it selected Edsby, how it’s getting unprecedented use and what the district plans to do with Edsby in the future.

When you’re talking about something this large, nothing is ever easy. And we were under a very limited timeline. We signed our contract in April of 2014, and we launched it for all of our 13,000 teachers that June, with all of their students and classes. That meant integrating with our custom mainframe SIS in those same three months, too.

There’s nobody really “running” Edsby. Edsby is self-sufficient. We have a role called the district IT administrator who has the exploded, upper level view. But we don’t do any management of student, teacher or class information. It’s all automated by Edsby from the information in our student information system. Edsby is always pulling from other data. We have a database administrator already managing our local database, making sure our local data is correct. Edsby just pulls from that. So even with 300,000 users, there is no full time administrator of Edsby, the nervous system of our school district.
