Aspen among dozens of SISes the Edsby platform synchronizes with, extending the value of key district systems

ONTARIO, Canada (October 8th, 2019) – Edsby®, the most comprehensive digital learning and data platform available for K-12 education, now provides built-in integration with Aspen™ from Follett School Solutions, a Student Information System (SIS) popular in the U.S. and Canada.

Edsby’s new Aspen support, now available, provides synchronization of roster, grades, attendance, schedule, parent, community service and other information similar to that already supported by Edsby’s custom integration with dozens of other SISes and related systems.

Edsby provides a modern suite of social digital learning and assessment and reporting services to a district or region’s K-12 stakeholders with content and access policies driven by existing mission critical systems of record such as SISes.

“Edsby gives students, teachers and parents a single, mobile-friendly user experience for a wide range of functions in K-12 that are highly adapted to the needs of each specific region,” said John Myers, Edsby Co-Founder and CEO. “We’re delighted that the deep integration we’ve been able to build with Follett has enabled customers to transition from legacy SISes to Aspen so smoothly.”

“We migrated over this summer to Aspen and went live on August 21st, and two weeks later, Edsby was ready for the start of school with all classes in place and attendance ready to be taken in Edsby and pushed to Aspen,” said Lynne St. Dennis, IT Supervisor at Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board, an Edsby K-12 district in Northern Canada. “The migration was relatively easy for teachers, students and parents. They continued to use their same Edsby accounts, and everything looked and worked the same.”

“We’re pleased Aspen’s two-way integration with Edsby is so full-fledged, given our companies’ existing and growing market share in states and provinces in North America,” said Frank Coster, Follett Vice President of Canadian Operations. Follett’s Aspen powers the ‘MyEducation BC’ service, run by Fujitsu Consulting (Canada), with over 630,000 students in 60 districts in the Canadian province of British Columbia, and ‘MySchoolSask,’ which is being rolled out by Fujitsu across Saskatchewan. Aspen and Fujitsu were recently selected as the preferred SIS by the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM), a province where Edsby is already used by many school districts.
