Edsby powering Ontario school boards via ORION

ORION KPR Edsby

A high speed network 1000 times faster than the public Internet is making Edsby even better for educators, students and their families in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The ORION research and education high-speed fiber optic network supports school districts using Edsby in the Canadian province of Ontario via a special agreement.

ORION’s network, spanning the province, claims to be 1000 times faster than publicly available Internet networks. And that allow Edsby districts like Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) and its 34,000 students and their parents to transmit huge amounts of data without bottlenecks, according to a new ORION profile of KPR’s use of Edsby.

Thanks to ORION, school boards simply access the platform through their usual, reliable, private ORION connection without having to pay any extra transit costs or use public Internet bandwidth.

And that’s made KPRDSB educators happy, according to ORION:

Clarke High School Vice Principal Scott Johnson is seeing the difference access to innovative technology can make in the lives of his students. “In my opinion,” he says, “Edsby has the potential to be a key component for true modern learning to take place in our schools.”

“Having Edsby provides tremendous advantages in accessibility and user friendliness,” Johnson explains. “The advantage of everything being in one place cannot be overstated. As an app, it allows me to have a wealth of relevant information available at all times, and when situations arise, at any time of the day or night, I am confident that I can make informed decisions in the best interests of the students and the school.”

Edsby, writes ORION, is “just one more way ORION empowers those who help make Ontario a better place.”
